How to perform Umrah & Hajj.
A simple overview to help you prepare. This is general guidance, not a ruling — for anything specific to your situation, please consult a knowledgeable scholar.
Umrah, step by step
- 1
Ihram
Enter the state of ihram at the designated miqat, make your intention (niyyah) for Umrah, and begin the Talbiyah.
- 2
Tawaf
Perform seven circuits of the Ka‘bah, beginning at the Black Stone, then pray two rak‘ah behind Maqam Ibrahim.
- 3
Sa‘i
Walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, remembering the example of Hajar (peace be upon her).
- 4
Halq or Taqsir
Shave (halq) or trim (taqsir) the hair. With this, the Umrah is complete and the state of ihram ends.
Hajj, day by day
- 1
8 Dhul-Hijjah — Tarwiyah
Enter ihram and proceed to Mina, where the day is spent in prayer.
- 2
9 Dhul-Hijjah — ‘Arafah
The standing at ‘Arafat — the essence of Hajj — followed by the night at Muzdalifah.
- 3
10 Dhul-Hijjah — Eid
Stone Jamrat al-‘Aqabah, offer the sacrifice, shave or trim, and perform Tawaf al-Ifadah.
- 4
11–13 Dhul-Hijjah — Tashreeq
Stone the three Jamarat in Mina each day, completing the rites before the farewell Tawaf.

Questions pilgrims ask
What is the difference between Hajj and Umrah?
Hajj is the obligatory pilgrimage performed once in a lifetime by those who are able, during the fixed days of Dhul-Hijjah. Umrah is a shorter, non-obligatory pilgrimage that can be performed at almost any time of year.
What documents do I need for Umrah or Hajj?
You will generally need a passport valid for at least six months, passport photos, a completed visa application, and proof of required vaccinations. Requirements change, so we confirm the current Saudi visa and health requirements with you before you travel.
When is the best time to perform Umrah?
Umrah can be performed year-round outside the Hajj season. Ramadan is especially virtuous and very popular, so those dates should be booked well in advance. Cooler months are often more comfortable for first-time pilgrims.
How far in advance should I book?
For Umrah, a few weeks is often enough, though Ramadan and school holidays fill quickly. Hajj is governed by an official quota and should be arranged many months ahead. The earlier you enquire, the more choice you have.
Do you arrange group or family packages?
Yes. We arrange journeys for individuals, families, and groups, and can tailor hotels, dates, and guidance to your needs. Share your group size when you enquire and we will prepare suitable options.
How do I get a quote?
Send an inquiry through our contact page with your preferred dates, group size, and whether you are interested in Umrah or Hajj. We will reply with tailored package options and itemised pricing.
